Volume 1 is the 2017 debut from BNQT (pronounced "banquet"), a collaborative project anchored by members of Midlake. Each contributing songwriter takes the lead on his own tracks, with Eric Pulido joined by Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses, Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, and Fran Healy of Travis, all backed by the Midlake rhythm section.
