Giving the World Away is the sophomore album from Hatchie, the project of songwriter and bassist Harriette Pilbeam. Produced by Jorge Elbrecht with input from collaborator Joe Agius and percussion from Beach House drummer James Barone, it cranks her celestial, shimmering shoegaze and pop sensibilities up tenfold, adding traces of '90s trip-hop and acid house. The result is a confident, sprawling record about self-discovery and the power of embracing vulnerability.
