Recorded in 1966, Jimmy & Wes: The Dynamic Duo is the first and best of two collaborative albums by organist Jimmy Smith and guitarist Wes Montgomery, with arrangements by Oliver Nelson. It pairs Smith's big, bluesy attack with Montgomery's rounder, smoother octaves and single notes — a near-ideal meeting of yin and yang, and frequently cited among Smith's finest albums. This was Montgomery's last session for Verve.
