Don't Cry Now was Linda Ronstadt's fourth solo album and her first for Asylum, the label move that set up the records that made her a superstar. Peter Asher shared production duties here with John Boylan and J.D. Souther.

The album is built on her gift as an interpreter, with readings of the Eagles' "Desperado," Randy Newman's "Sail Away," Neil Young's "I Believe In You" and the country standard "Silver Threads And Golden Needles." It stayed on the Billboard album chart for more than a year and was later certified gold.
