Long before Martin Denny started heading into outer space with his Moog work, he was keeping us floating slightly above the ground with the sounds of the earth — and The Enchanted Sea is one of his most grounded and beautiful works. Rather than the jungle and tiki-bar smoke of his other exotica records, this one evokes a tumbler full of ice and bare feet on a sandy beach at twilight, with early glimpses of psychedelic-treated pianos, ethereal female vocals and abstract orchestration. Out of print since the 1960s, this reissue restores the original iconic artwork.
