Melissa is the 1983 debut studio album from Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate, formed in Copenhagen by vocalist King Diamond and guitarist Hank Shermann. With its progressive song structures, occult themes, and King Diamond's soaring falsetto, it became a foundational record for the first wave of black metal and a lasting influence on extreme metal. The album closes with the epic 11-minute "Satan's Fall," reportedly built from sixteen distinct riffs.
