A high-water mark of Bobby Hutcherson's creative 1970s Blue Note run, Montara is a feel-good album on which the great vibraphonist conjures an intoxicating hybrid of Latin jazz and fusion grooves. Recorded in his hometown of Los Angeles, it features a deep cast including Willie Bobo, Blue Mitchell, Ernie Watts and Harvey Mason. This stereo Tone Poet edition was produced by Joe Harley and mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI in a deluxe tip-on jacket.
