Recorded in early 1965 for Impulse! Records, Wrapped Tight captures the jazz pioneer delivering a remarkably fresh and inventive late-career performance. Backed by a core rhythm section featuring pianist Barry Harris, bassist Buddy Catlett and drummer Eddie Locke, Hawkins navigates a diverse set of standards and pop tunes with absolute authority.

The Acoustic Sounds Series comprises monthly reissues from Verve and Universal Music Enterprises, mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab from the original analog tape, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings, and housed in Stoughton Printing old-style tip-on gatefold jackets. The series is supervised by Acoustic Sounds CEO Chad Kassem.
