Kingston, Jamaica-born trumpeter Dizzy Reece moved to London at 17 and made his name across Europe, earning fans in Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins. When trumpeter Donald Byrd and drummer Art Taylor passed through on tour in 1958, they joined Reece in a London studio for a U.K.-U.S. summit that became his Blue Note debut, Blues in Trinity. Reece delivers bravado performances throughout — including the ballad "I Had the Craziest Dream" — with British tenor saxophonist Tubby Hayes a standout on the title track and a swinging "'Round About Midnight."
