Georg Solti once likened Chicago and its illustrious orchestra to a "sleeping beauty" when he arrived as music director in 1969. Five years later it was Stravinsky's Rite of Spring that revealed how incendiary the relationship had become — a recording that still propels itself out of the loudspeakers half a century on. This edition is part of Decca's all-analogue Pure Analogue series, using only original analogue sources with no digital processing in the signal path, presented in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with archival photos and bespoke notes.
