Tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley first appeared on Blue Note in 1954 with Horace Silver's Jazz Messengers and began leading his own dates in 1955, launching a fruitful 15-year run on the label. On this 1957 sextet album he is joined by Curtis Porter on alto and tenor, Bill Hardman on trumpet, Sonny Clark on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Art Taylor on drums. The set swings mightily, with highlights including a deep-in-the-pocket "Bags' Groove" and a graceful turn through "Falling In Love With Love."
