Mono 180g Vinyl LP, Blue Note Tone Poet Audiophile Reissue, Mastered by Kevin Gray (AAA), Pressed at RTI

Tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley began leading his own Blue Note dates in 1955, launching a fruitful 15-year run on the label. Recorded in 1957, the sextet album Hank (BLP 1560) finds him sharpening his lyrical, swinging style alongside Donald Byrd on trumpet, John Jenkins on alto sax, Bobby Timmons on piano, Wilbur Ware on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums. Side One presents two Mobley originals—"Fit for a Hanker" and "Hi Groove, Low Feed-Back"—while Side Two offers a jaunty take on Cole Porter's "Easy to Love," an elegant reading of the Styne-Cahn ballad "Time After Time," and a hard-charging romp through Bud Powell's "Dance of the Infidels." This mono Tone Poet edition was mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.
