At the Gate of Horn was originally released in 1959 on Vee-Jay Records and expertly showcases the songwriting prowess of the prolific blues pianist and singer, from blues ballads to upbeat numbers. Among the diverse program is "Steppin' Out," which gained reverence among blues-rockers and remains one of Slim's best-known tracks. Featuring the original liner notes by Studs Terkel, this all-analog reissue was cut from the original tapes by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at QRP, and housed in a replica tip-on jacket.
