Trumpeter Clark Terry spent nearly a decade in Duke Ellington's orchestra, and his Ellington memories are notable for a quintet that features Joe Pass's eloquent guitar in place of a second horn. The program mixes uncommon choices with familiar warhorses, from "Echoes of Harlem," with Terry growling in the manner of Cootie Williams, to a Latin-tinged "Sophisticated Lady" and "Everything But You," where Terry trades between trumpet and flugelhorn in conversation with himself. This Analogue Productions reissue was mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab from the original analog master tape, pressed at Quality Record Pressings, and housed in a gatefold Stoughton Printing tip-on jacket.
