Following the success of Impex's critically lauded 1STEP LP release of Stan Getz's cultural touchstone, this definitive Super Audio CD/Hybrid CD presents two complete versions of Getz/Gilberto: Bernie Grundman's original analog tape master-to-DSD version and a new transfer, restoration and mastering by Jamie Howarth at Plangent Processes. The Plangent process corrects anomalies and repairs physical tape damage without adversely affecting the original sonic quality.

Few recordings better capture the breezy warmth and easy-going sophistication of Brazilian bossa nova for an American jazz audience, and only Getz/Gilberto has Billboard Top 10 singles like "The Girl from Ipanema" and "Desafinado." The release includes the 1STEP's essay by Charles L. Granata and a 24-page booklet with studio, personal and publicity photos, plus the 1STEP's two bonus tracks on the Plangent-processed version.
