Released in 1970, Psychedelic Shack was the twelfth studio album by The Temptations for the Gordy (Motown) label. Written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong and produced by Whitfield, it largely abandoned the classic Motown Sound to dive fully into psychedelia. Alongside the #7 pop hit title track, it features the group's original version of "War," which later became a major hit for Edwin Starr.
