Art Taylor was one of the greatest drummers in modern jazz, propelling the bands of Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and many more. As a leader he recorded only a handful of albums, including 1960's A.T.'s Delight, his sole date as a leader for Blue Note. It is an inventive, enchanting set of hard bop interpreting the music of Coltrane, Monk and Kenny Dorham with a stellar band: trumpeter Dave Burns, tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, pianist Wynton Kelly, bassist Paul Chambers and Carlos "Patato" Valdes on congas.
