180g 45 RPM Double LP, Atlantic 75 Series, Pressed at QRP, Tip-On Gatefold

The first album to hit the shelves after Giant Steps, Coltrane Jazz was recorded in November and December 1959 (with one track, "Village Blues," cut in late 1960). On everything but "Village Blues," Coltrane is backed by the Miles Davis rhythm section of pianist Wynton Kelly, bassist Paul Chambers, and drummer Jimmy Cobb. The group reaches its peak on Coltrane's original material—particularly "Harmonique," with its upper-register leaps, and the slightly Eastern-flavored "Like Sonny," dedicated to Sonny Rollins. "Village Blues" introduces the McCoy Tyner / Elvin Jones lineup that would soon define his most beloved 1960s work. This deluxe Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series edition is a 180g 45 RPM 2LP pressed at QRP.
