Approaching the ten-year anniversary of their genre-defining debut, Khruangbin asked themselves a question: if you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself? Their answer was to do it again. The Universe Smiles Upon You ii was recorded January 4–6, 2025 in the same family barn of guitarist Mark Speer, across the same dates the original was conceived a decade earlier. The same conditions — dirt floor, brutal cold, all takes live — yield ten hypnotizing, re-approached tracks, a spacious tapestry of small movements revealing the new life and character of someone you've met again for the first time in ten years.
