Chris Isaak's third album arrived in June 1989 sounding like nothing else in contemporary music, and more than three decades on it remains a masterful mood piece — late-night, brooding and beautifully sung. Home to the Top 10 smash "Wicked Game," the record eventually sold more than 2.5 million copies after David Lynch used two cuts in Wild at Heart and radio picked the song up. Beyond Isaak's baritone, the star of the show is guitarist James Calvin Wilsey, whose 1965 Stratocaster and signature reverb, delay and vibrato define the album's desert-noir atmosphere. Mobile Fidelity's numbered-edition hybrid SACD is sourced from the original master tapes and housed in mini-LP-style gatefold packaging.
