Tone Poet Audiophile Series — All-Analog 180g 3LP, 6 Previously Unissued Tracks, Mastered by Kevin Gray
Guitarist Kenny Burrell recorded On View at the Five Spot Café live at the storied NYC club on August 25, 1959, leading a stacked band of Art Blakey on drums, Tina Brooks on tenor saxophone, Roland Hanna and Bobby Timmons on piano, and Ben Tucker on bass. This expanded 3LP edition presents Burrell's complete recorded performance from that night for the first time, including six previously unissued tracks. Produced by Joe Harley, the all-analog vinyl was cut from Rudy Van Gelder's original master tapes by Kevin Gray, pressed on 180g at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe tip-on trifold jacket with a booklet of Francis Wolff photos.
