Technics - SL-1200M7B Automobili Lamborghini Edition Turntable

The Technics and Automobili Lamborghini collaboration: an SL-1200MK7 finished in three Lamborghini livery colours, with a logo slipmat and a picture disc of six V12 engines recorded at full voice.

Announced in May 2024, the SL-1200M7B is the only turntable Technics has made with Lamborghini. It is built on the SL-1200MK7 DJ platform — Technics says so in the press release — and the differences from a standard MK7 are entirely in the finish and what comes in the box.

The livery is a three-colour scheme built around Lamborghini’s Y-shape design language, using three names from the marque’s own paint catalogue: Arancio Apodis orange, Verde Shock green and Giallo Athon yellow. Worth knowing, because the model number misleads: the B suffix here is not the usual Technics shorthand for black. There is no SL-1210M7B, and this deck is not finished in silver or black.

In the box alongside the turntable: a Lamborghini-logo slipmat, Technics and Lamborghini logo stickers, and a picture disc pressed with recorded engine and driving sounds from six Lamborghini V12s — the 400GT 2+2, the Miura SV, the Countach, the Diablo, the Murciélago and the Revuelto. The disc art is a photograph of a Revuelto tyre.

Two corrections to claims that circulate about this deck. It is not the 50th Anniversary edition — that is a different model, the SL-1200M7L, released in 2022 in seven colours and capped at 12,000 units worldwide. And Technics has never published a production cap for the Lamborghini edition. If a seller quotes you a unit number for the M7B, ask them where it came from, because it did not come from Technics.

Underneath the paint it is a proper MK7: coreless direct drive, 0.18N·m of starting torque, up to speed in seven tenths of a second, 0.025% wow and flutter, a 332mm aluminium platter and the static-balance S-shape arm with a removable headshell. No cartridge is fitted — we will mount and align whatever you choose.

Claims circulate online about where Technics builds its turntables; none of them come from Technics, so we are not going to repeat them here as fact.
• Warranty: Panasonic administers Technics warranty in the United States and the term varies by model rather than by product category. The SL-1200M7B does not appear in Technics’ published US warranty table. Its base platform, the SL-1200MK7, is listed at two years parts and labour. Ask us and we will confirm with Panasonic rather than assume the collaboration edition matches. Technics states that product registration is not required and does not extend coverage. A dated sales receipt is required, coverage runs to the original purchaser, and the product must be purchased and serviced in the United States. Non-rechargeable batteries, antennas and cosmetic cabinet parts are excluded. Note that Technics’ warranty statement does not explicitly name styli or cartridges as excluded items, even though wear-part exclusion is normal industry practice — we would not assume coverage either way without asking Panasonic first.
