Yamaha - NS-777 Floor-Standing Speaker (Each)

A three-way floorstander with twin 8-inch PMD woofers, a waveguide-horn midrange and tweeter, bi-wire gold-plated terminals and a 30 Hz published low-frequency limit — sold singly, so buy two for a stereo pair.

Yamaha sells this one each, not per pair — the title on Yamaha’s own US product page reads “Floor-Standing Speaker (Each).” Every dimension and weight below is for one cabinet. Order two if you want stereo.

The driver complement is a genuine three-way: two 8-inch PMD (polymer-injected mica diaphragm) cone woofers, a 5-inch cone midrange on Yamaha’s waveguide horn, and a 1-inch aluminium dome tweeter also on a waveguide. Crossovers are at 1 kHz and 4 kHz, figures that appear in the owner’s manual but not on the web specification page. The cabinet is the same elliptical form and high-gloss piano black finish as the NS-333, with a single bass-reflex port, and it is internally wired with Monster Cable.

The terminals are a real step up from the bookshelf model: gold-plated extruded brass, arranged for bi-wiring, with separate positive and negative pairs for the woofer section and for the mid and treble section. Yamaha’s case for bi-wiring is that separating the two current paths reduces modulation distortion. Sensitivity is 89 dB at 2.83 V into 6 ohms nominal, with 100 watts nominal and 250 watts maximum recommended amplifier power.

One labelling trap worth clearing up. The accessories list in the manual includes “Stand (R ×2, L ×2)” along with washers, screws and pads, and Yamaha’s feature page talks about matching speaker stands providing solid footing. This is the tower’s own outrigger base hardware that bolts to the bottom of the cabinet for stability — not a separate piece of stand furniture. There is no standalone stand product for the NS-777 the way the SPS-5000 exists for the NS-5000.

Registration is explicitly not required. Cover is enforceable only by the original purchaser.
