In a lengthy career, veteran New Orleans singer Aaron Neville recorded some five-star soul gems, and his first A&M date, 1991's Warm Your Heart, takes a more pop-minded approach brimming with vocal thrills and charm. Tracks like the haunting "That's the Way She Loves," the gritty "Angola Bound," and a remake of the Main Ingredient's "Everybody Plays the Fool" show Neville at his most affecting. Producer Linda Ronstadt sings on four songs and Rita Coolidge on three, with further guests including slide guitarist Ry Cooder, saxophonist Plas Johnson, Bob Seger, and Dr. John. The album reached platinum status.
