Widely regarded as one of the great RCAs, this recording features Alexander Gibson conducting the Royal Opera House Orchestra, Covent Garden, in ballet music from Charles Gounod's Faust and Georges Bizet's Carmen Suite. Recorded in London's Kingsway Hall by producer Ray Minshull and engineer Kenneth Wilkinson, it offers outstanding clarity, a wide stereo stage, and superb transparency and imaging. For this Analogue Productions reissue the LP was pressed from the Bernie Grundman parts used earlier for the Classic Records edition, plated and pressed at Quality Record Pressings with a Stoughton Printing tip-on jacket.
