1969 was a banner year for B.B. King, and Completely Well captured him at the peak of his crossover fame. The album earned him a 1971 Grammy Award for his smash "The Thrill Is Gone" and won him a wider, younger audience. Backed by an all-star session band including Gerald Jemmott, Hugh McCracken and Herbie Lovelle, it remains one of the King of the Blues' essential recordings.
