Tyranny and Mutation is the second studio album by American hard rock band Blue Öyster Cult, released February 11, 1973 on Columbia Records and produced by Murray Krugman and Sandy Pearlman. It peaked at No. 122 on the Billboard 200. "The Red and the Black," with lyrics referencing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, is a re-recorded version of the debut's "I'm on the Lamb but I Ain't No Sheep," later covered by the Minutemen and Band of Susans. Pressed on 180-gram audiophile black vinyl.
