The clear, dry, natural sound of this studio recording carries the down-to-earth flair of Memphis, opening with a tautly arranged, melting version of Burt Bacharach's "Any Day Now." From restrained, pulsating soul ("Stop Thief") to a metallically ticking groove ("I Take It To My Baby") and lush, gospel-tinged call-and-response, the human voice is always at the center. This Speakers Corner LP was remastered using pure analogue components only, from the master tapes through to the cutting head.
