Tenor saxophonist Clifford Jordan leads two quartets — one with Stanley Cowell, Bill Lee, and Billy Higgins, the other with Cedar Walton, Sam Jones, and Higgins — across a program of spiritual, post-bop originals. Jordan's effortless, deeply expressive playing erases the line between composed and improvised throughout.
