Audio-Technica - AT6181DL Stroboscope Disc and Quartz Strobe Light
A stroboscope disc paired with a quartz-controlled strobe light, so platter speed can be checked accurately regardless of what your mains or your lighting is doing.
Most strobe discs rely on the flicker of an incandescent lamp running off the mains, which means the disc has to be printed for a specific line frequency and read under the right kind of bulb. The AT6181DL sidesteps all of that. Its light is battery-powered and quartz-controlled, flashing at a fixed 120 Hz for 33-1/3 and 45 RPM and 234 Hz for 78 RPM from its own internal reference.
The practical consequence is that there is no 50 Hz or 60 Hz row to choose, no wrong-region version to buy, and no need for a particular light fixture in the room. Put the 104 mm disc on the platter, start it at your target speed, shine the yellow LED on it and read the row for that speed: pattern standing still means the speed is correct, drifting forward means fast, drifting back means slow.
An overhang guide is printed on the same disc. The light runs about eight hours continuously on two AAA cells, which are not included.
Features
- Complete kit: stroboscope disc plus a quartz-controlled LED strobe light
- Checks 33-1/3, 45 and 78 RPM platter speed
- Quartz reference makes the reading independent of AC mains frequency — no 50/60 Hz version to get wrong
- Bright yellow LED gives a high-contrast, easy-to-read pattern
- Flashes at 120 Hz for 33-1/3 and 45 RPM, and 234 Hz for 78 RPM
- About eight hours of continuous use on two AAA cells
- Stylus overhang guide printed on the same disc
