Count Basie - Basie At Birdland - Pure Pleasure LP
$60.99
Double LP, 180g Vinyl, Remastered by Ray Staff at Air Mastering
Recorded live on June 27 and 28, 1961 at Birdland – the self-proclaimed "Jazz Corner of the World" – and released barely a month later, Basie At Birdland captures Count Basie and his orchestra at the peak of their powers. The band is so tight and swings so hard that it can sound like a single instrument, tearing through Kansas City-style blues and big-band bop in front of a raucous New York crowd. This double LP adds bonus tracks not part of the original album.
