The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows began as an orchestral piece inspired by the landscapes of Iceland before Damon Albarn returned to it in lockdown, reshaping it into eleven songs exploring fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth. The title comes from John Clare's poem "Love and Memory." Expansive orchestral arrangements brush up against intimate melodies and some of Albarn's most arresting vocal performances to date.
