The Blue EP follows Death Cab for Cutie's 2018 full-length Thank You For Today, which debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top Rock and Alternative charts. Lead track "Kids in '99" recalls the 1999 Olympic Pipeline explosion in the band's hometown of Bellingham, WA. "To the Ground" and "Before the Bombs" come from the Thank You For Today sessions with producer Rich Costey, while "Kids in '99" and "Blue Bloods" were produced by Peter Katis.
