Dexter Gordon - Doin' Allright - 80th LP
$25.99
Blue Note 80 Vinyl Reissue Series — All-Analog 180g LP Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio
Though he first recorded in the late 1940s, Dexter Gordon's Blue Note debut Doin' Allright — recorded and released in 1961 — marked a rebirth for the great tenor saxophonist after a decade in which legal troubles limited his output. His Blue Note years put him back on top with a run of essential albums, and this set pairs bluesy hard-bop originals like "Society Red" with a stunning reading of the ballad "You've Changed." The quintet features Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Horace Parlan on piano, George Tucker on bass, and Al Harewood on drums.
