Dokken exploded out of the early-'80s Los Angeles hard rock and metal scene with their debut, Breaking the Chains. Originally issued on France's Carrere Records in 1981, then remixed and remastered by Elektra in 1983, it captures the short-lived but lively lineup of Don Dokken, George Lynch, Juan Croucier, and Mick Brown. The era-defining title track and the Lynch showcase "Paris Is Burning" are the standouts.
