LP, Opaque White Vinyl
Originally released in 1976, Ikoyi Blindness marks the moment Fela Anikulapo-Kuti announced his change of middle name from Ransome to Anikulapo ("he who carries death in his pouch") and the Africanisation of his band's name from Africa 70 to Afrika 70. The title track contrasts the get-rich-at-all-costs mindset of the prosperous Lagos suburb Ikoyi with the community-minded attitude of the city's poorer neighborhoods, while "Gba Mi Leti Ki N'Dolowo" confronts the era's rampant police and military assaults on ordinary citizens. Pressed on iresi (opaque white) vinyl.
