Originally released in 1981, Original Sufferhead was the first album Fela Anikulapo-Kuti issued under the name of his band Egypt 80, after disbanding Afrika 70 in 1979. On the title track he describes the inhuman treatment and poor living conditions faced by working-class Nigerians, while "Power Show" tackles the two-tier system dividing the country's rich and poor. This edition presents the title track in its full-length glory, restoring roughly four minutes of "lost" material — including a Fela keyboard solo — discovered on the B-side of the original pressing and omitted from later reissues. Pressed on ewuro (opaque light green) vinyl.
