One of the finest Strata-East sessions, Don't Look Back was led by saxophonist Harold Vick and recorded in 1974, in the wake of his recovery from a heart attack — which may help explain the passion of his playing throughout. Best known as the funky tenorist on '60s dates with John Patton and Jack McDuff, Vick emerges here as a deeply sensitive soul-jazz player and composer, writing and producing all the material. Reissued on audiophile vinyl by Pure Pleasure.
