Henry Franklin - The Skipper at Home - LP
$23.99
Vinyl LP, Remastered Reissue
Bassist Henry Franklin's 1974 Black Jazz session — "The Skipper" being Franklin's nickname — is a high point in a label catalog full of them, rooted in bop but reaching toward the freer, more electric currents swirling through jazz at the time. Franklin is joined by trumpeter Oscar Brashear, saxophonist Charles Owens, keyboardists Kirk Lightsey and David Durrah, trombonist Al Hall Jr., and drummer Leon "Ndugu" Chancler for an album of remarkably intuitive, swinging ensemble work. Newly remastered and never before reissued on vinyl outside of Japan.
