The Lonesome Jubilee is John Mellencamp's ninth studio album, released by Mercury Records in 1987. One of his most successful and ambitious works, it wove Appalachian folk instrumentation — fiddle, accordion, and dulcimer — into his heartland rock, painting vivid portraits of working-class American life. The album spawned the hits “Paper In Fire,” “Cherry Bomb,” and “Check It Out.”
