The fifth King Diamond album, The Eye (1990), featured slower tempos, more keyboards, more mid-range vocals, and a larger nod to traditional heavy metal and hard rock, tied together by a loose conceptual thread. It split the fanbase on release, but many now regard it as one of the band's most nuanced and rewarding efforts. Newly reissued on 180-gram vinyl.
