Lee Morgan - The Rumproller - 80th LP
$27.99
180 Gram Vinyl, Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition
After trumpeter Lee Morgan set the music world on fire with his hit single "The Sidewinder," he cooked up the funky follow-up "The Rumproller," recorded the next year in 1965. The quintet featuring Joe Henderson on tenor sax, Ronnie Mathews on piano, Victor Sproles on bass and Billy Higgins on drums covers diverse territory, from the post-bop of "Desert Moonlight" to the calypso of "Eclipso" to the mournful closing ballad "The Lady," dedicated to Billie Holiday.
