Not many artists record two highly collectible, self-titled albums a decade apart, but singer-songwriter-keyboardist Leon Ware pulled off that feat — first for United Artists in 1972, then with this 1982 Elektra release. In between he wrote and produced for Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Minnie Riperton, and Marvin Gaye, for whom he helmed the classic I Want You. This set features Ware's soaring falsetto over arrangements by the legendary Marty Paich, with fiery contributions from saxman Gato Barbieri and vocalist Flora Purim (duetting on "Somewhere"). For its first U.S. vinyl reissue, the cult classic is pressed in orange crush vinyl.
