Mercyful Fate are the pioneering Danish heavy metal band from Copenhagen, formed in 1981 by vocalist King Diamond and guitarist Hank Shermann. 'Don't Break the Oath' is the band's second studio album, released in 1984 and widely regarded as a cornerstone of theatrical, occult-themed heavy metal.
