Available for the first time on 180 gram vinyl, E.S.P. marks the beginning of a revitalization for Miles Davis as his second classic quintet — Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams — fully gels. Unlike most previous Davis albums, it consists entirely of new compositions written by members of the group. This was Shorter's first studio recording with Miles, yet the interplay throughout is uncanny, as heard on the closing Ron Carter ballad 'Mood.'
