Miles Davis' first album for Columbia, 'Round About Midnight, marks both the start of his decades-long relationship with the label and the beginning of his collaboration with then-unknown saxophonist John Coltrane. The 1957 set is a hard-bop benchmark, anchored by Davis' brooding, Harmon-muted reading of the Thelonious Monk standard "'Round Midnight." Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI on 180g vinyl, part of Mobile Fidelity's Miles Davis catalog restoration series.
