American hard rock band Mountain was formed in 1969 by Leslie West, Felix Pappalardi, Steve Knight, and Norman Smart. Their 1970 debut Climbing! peaked at #17 on the US Billboard albums chart and includes their best-known song, "Mississippi Queen," along with FM-radio favorites "Never in My Life" and "Theme for an Imaginary Western" (co-written by Jack Bruce).
