Musical Fidelity - M8s-700m Monobloc Power Amplifiers Black - Pair (Open Box)
Open box item — one matched pair available.
A pair of fully balanced monobloc power amplifiers — 700 watts per channel into 8 ohms and around 1,300 watts into 4 ohms from each chassis, sold here as a complete stereo pair, open box.
The M8s-700m is Musical Fidelity's more affordable, conventionally sized successor to the limited-edition Titan of 2008. Each chassis is a single fully balanced monobloc delivering 700 watts RMS into 8 ohms and just on 1,300 watts into 4 ohms, and Musical Fidelity's own measurements place it within about 1.25dB of the 1kW Titan in action. Bought as a pair you get one amplifier per channel — the configuration the design is built around.
Distortion is specified typically at 0.001% at 1kHz and below 0.005% at 20kHz, rising to 0.02% at 50kHz and around 0.06% at 100kHz — frequencies no recording contains, quoted to show the amplifier's overall behaviour rather than anything you will hear. Signal-to-noise is better than 120dB A-weighted and frequency response runs +0/−1dB from 10Hz to 80kHz.
Each monobloc takes an RCA line-level or a single XLR balanced input, with a 3.5mm trigger input for system automation. Twin sets of speaker terminals make bi-wiring straightforward, and the outputs can be daisy-chained to bi-amp suitable speakers. There is no volume control, no phono stage and no headphone socket — this is a power amplifier and nothing else. It is the natural partner to Musical Fidelity's M8sPRE preamplifier.
