The black stylus from the Concorde Music series — and it fits every Concorde Music body.

Ortofon’s rule for this series is refreshingly simple, and it is stated outright: all Concorde Music styli are compatible with every Concorde Music cartridge. There are no tiers and no restrictions, unlike the 2M range. So this is both the correct replacement for a worn Black and a straight upgrade for any Concorde Music body below it.

The diamond is a nude shibata at r/R 6/50 µm, on an aluminium cantilever with Ortofon’s own rubber suspension. Fitting takes seconds — the stylus assembly slides off the front of the cartridge and the new one pushes on, with no realignment, because a Concorde’s geometry is fixed by the body itself.

A stylus is a wear part, and a worn one stops tracking cleanly and starts doing real damage to your records. Ortofon rates its diamonds at up to 1000 hours with proper care. The Shibata’s narrow 6 µm minor radius and tall 50 µm contact flank are the classic recipe for high-frequency retrieval and low record wear.

Specifications

  • Type: Replacement stylus unit for the Ortofon Concorde Music series
  • Stylus Type: Nude Shibata on an aluminium cantilever
  • Stylus Tip Radius: r/R 6/50 µm
  • Stylus Suspension: Ortofon exclusive
  • Stylus Colour: Black
  • Fits: Every Concorde Music cartridge — Ortofon states that all Concorde Music styli are compatible with every Concorde Music cartridge
  • Installation: The stylus assembly slides off the front of the cartridge body and the replacement pushes on. No realignment is required, because a Concorde’s alignment is fixed by the integrated body
  • Stylus Life: Ortofon rates its styli at up to 1000 hours with proper care. This is a general figure across the range rather than a per-model specification
  • Cleaning: Ortofon does not recommend solvents of any kind for cleaning either the record surface or the stylus, warning that they may damage the stylus cement and that interior parts of the cartridge can be seriously affected by solvent intrusion. Ortofon states that its warranty will not be valid where such treatment has caused a cartridge to malfunction. Use a dry fibre stylus brush, drawn from the rear of the cartridge forward toward the tip
  • Origin: Not published. Ortofon states elsewhere that its cartridges are designed and crafted in Denmark, but publishes no country of manufacture on this product
  • Warranty: Ortofon’s own webshop terms specify a two-year limited warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. Ortofon Inc. covers cartridges bought from an authorised US dealer for one year, excluding expendable items. A US dealer purchase falls under the one-year terms
  • Not Published: Ortofon’s stylus pages carry only stylus type, cantilever, suspension and colour. Output voltage, channel separation, channel balance, frequency response, compliance and tracking force are not restated — those are properties of the cartridge body. The tip radius above is taken from the corresponding cartridge page
  • Note: Concorde Music styli look similar to 2M styli and are priced identically tier for tier, which invites the assumption that they are the same part. They are not interchangeable — the mounts are entirely different, and Ortofon makes no cross-series compatibility claim
