Ortofon - Record Stabilizer - Heavy

The 350g version of Ortofon’s record stabilizer — more mass, for decks with the bearing to carry it.

The Heavy is the same design as Ortofon’s Standard stabilizer with more mass behind it: 350 grams against 240, in the same satin matte anodised finish in silver or black, with the same textured wave-grip around the edge.

More mass couples the record to the platter more firmly and damps resonance more aggressively, which is what you want on a heavier deck with a solid platter and a bearing built to take it. Ortofon frames the two-model range as designed to complement a variety of turntables, and names the Standard as the one for entry-level and sub-chassis designs — which leaves the Heavy for everything more substantial.

Two honest caveats. Ortofon does not publish a bearing load limit for either model, and not every turntable is designed to carry 350 grams at the spindle; if your deck is suspended or lightly built, the Standard is the safer choice and we are happy to talk it through. And Ortofon confirms the aluminium construction and felt underside only for the Standard, not explicitly for this model, so we have not stated them here as fact.
